Blogging can be a risky business, especially when you are in the middle of the Syrian Civil War. Bashar al-Assad has placed the country under a media blackout and deployed a cyber army, on the prowl for internet activists speaking out against the state (See Reporters without Borders). Still there remains a handful who blog on, even though the consequences could be death (See Syrian blogger burned to death). One of these bloggers is "Big Al" who has been featured in CNN (See the article 'I Live or Die here') and the New York Times. Take some time to read his blog (Thoughts and feelings of a Syrian freedom fighter). Start at the beginning and read through the posts. Put yourself in his shoes....what would you do and say if you lived in Homs?
If you were to write a letter (or post) to a Syrian freedom fighter what questions would you ask? What message would you send? Post your thoughts in your own blog.
Once you are finished, take some time to watch one of Al Jazeera's weekly reports, Inside Syria.
